SENDING
1) Standard transmission
- Log into your GOFAX account
- Select the "Fax" tab
- Fill in the fax form with the recipient's number, the subject and the message to
appear on the cover sheet
- Add attachments if necessary
- Click on "Send"
2) Sending from your email account (requires the MAIL to FAX option)
- Open your email software
- Create a "new message"
- Enter your contact's fax number in the "To" field in the form number@gofax.com (e.g.
0123456789@gofax.com)
- Enter a subject and a message to appear on the cover sheet
- Add attachments if necessary
- Click on "Send"
You will receive an acknowledgement by email of each fax sent.
If transmission fails, the acknowledgement will give the cause of the failure (incorrect
fax number, line busy and so on).
You can also view transmission logs in your customer area on the www.gofax.com website.
Sending a fax outside your own country works in exactly the same way as with a standard
fax machine. Your contact's fax number must include the international dialling code
(often "00") or the "+" sign followed by the code for the recipient's country.
For example, to send a fax from France to Great Britain, the syntax will be 004412345678 or +4412345678.
Note that in most cases the first digit of your contact's local number (usually
"0") should be omitted when dialling from abroad.
The recommended formats for sending by fax are:
- Plain Text (TXT)
- Rich Text Format (RTF)
- Microsoft Word (DOC)
- Microsoft Excel (XLS)
- Portable Document Format (PDF)
- Tagged Image File Format (TIFF or TIF)
Other formats (Office, images and so on) are also compatible, but to ensure optimal
transmission (speed and quality) we do not recommend them.
The faxes you receive by email are sent by the GOFAX service. The sender’s email
address is a generic address reserved for routing faxes: no-reply@gofax.com. This
address cannot receive messages, so you cannot use the "Reply" function of your
email software.
To reply to your contact by fax, log into your account on the
www.gofax.com site and send a fax through the site.
RECEIVING
Your faxes arrive directly in your email inbox in the form of a message with the
subject "You have received a fax of x pages".
Your faxes are also available in your customer area on the www.gofax.com website, in the "Inbox" tab.
To view your faxes in your email inbox, just open the messages with the title "You
have received a fax of x pages". The first two pages of the fax can be seen in the
body of the email, and the whole fax is available in the form of a PDF attachment.
To open it, double-click on the attachment.
To view your faxes in your customer area on the www.gofax.com
website, in the "Inbox" tab, just place the mouse cursor over a fax and
double-click on it to open it.
You can receive faxes from any country. Your contact just needs to enter your number
with the international prefixes, in the same way as with a standard fax number.
When you register, the GOFAX service asks you to select your country and/or region
so that you can be allocated a local number. If you live in London, for example,
your number will start with "020".
If you already have a fax number and you wish to continue using it, just ask your
operator to transfer calls to your new GOFAX number. You will then receive all your
faxes by email.
However, we recommend that you tell your contacts about your new number quickly.
This means you can cancel your previous number and save the associated telephone
costs.
REGISTRATION
It's very simple: go to the www.gofax.com website,
select the package corresponding to your requirements and create an account in four
easy stages:
- choose your package
- create your account
- payment
- get your fax number
Activation of the GOFAX service is very quick - it only takes a few minutes. Once
your account has been created and your payment information received, you will receive
an email confirming your registration. You can start sending faxes as soon as you
receive this confirmation message.
You can have as many fax numbers as you need. To do this, you will need to create
several different customer accounts. Each account will have its own fax number.
If you need several fax numbers, we recommend that you contact our sales department
by filling in the Contact form. We can offer a sequence of fax numbers to fit your
needs, together with more advanced features.
GOFAX is a low-cost service. We make every effort to keep prices as low as possible
while guaranteeing top-level reliability and quality of service for our customers.
GOFAX is marketed in the form of "Send and Receive" or "Send only" packages. You
can view the solutions we offer on the www.gofax.com
website. The packages vary in duration from 1 week to 1 year. Each package gives
access to a subscription with a certain number of pages included.

FAX MAILING
In order to send fax mailings, you need to have the Mail to Fax which enables
faxes to be sent from an email account.
This option is included in the "Volume" packages. If you do not have a "Volume"
package, you can purchase the option as a supplement to your subscription.
Prepare your fax in your email software, entering the fax number of each recipient
in the form number@gofax.com, separating the recipients with semi-colons.
To enable you to mail over 100 recipients, we offer a professional fax mailing solution.
This system looks up the fax numbers directly in a database, sends a final proof
before routing the campaign and sends an end-of-campaign report giving details of
faxes sent successfully and those that failed.

There is an API for automating the sending of faxes from an application.

ARCHIVING
Your fax traffic is automatically archived in your customer area on the
www.gofax.com website. Log in using your user name and password. You can
see the faxes you have sent in the "Sent Faxes" tab, and those you have received
in the "Inbox" tab.
GOFAX archives your faxes for 30 days up to a limit of 30 MB per user. If your fax
volumes are high, you can subscribe to a storage option offering an extra 1 GB.
Valid throughout your subscription, this option guarantees that all your faxes will
be preserved in your customer area.
Your faxes are listed in chronological order. You can perform advanced searches
in your lists of faxes sent or received by creating filters. Select the "Filters"
tab, create an appropriate filter (e.g. filtering on recipient, sender, number dialled
and so on) and start the search using the filter.
PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION
AND ANTI-SPAM POLICY
GOFAX never divulges any client data to third parties. We keep our customers' details
on highly protected secure servers.
You may sometimes receive faxes or emails from GOFAX. These messages are intended
solely to help you make the most of your fax service.
